About Chiropractic Adjustments by Chiropractors
Chiropractic adjustments have many names- chiropractic manipulation, spinal manipulation and manual manipulation- but they all refer to the same thing: therapeutic treatment for pain. By applying pressure and manipulation to the joint or vertebrae that have restricted movement or failure to function normally, the “adjustment” to the affected area can be made and sometimes immediate relief is experienced. Our chiropractors analyze the source of your pain and through a chiropractic evaluation, come up with a treatment plan to bring resolution to your pain. Sometimes this treatment plan can involve only one adjustment, or sometimes you might need multiple adjustments to get the affected area pain relief. No matter what your treatment plan entails, you can rest assured we will provide you the best chiropractic treatment plan available in the Hollywood, FL and Ft. Lauderdale areas.
So what does a chiropractic adjustment involve?
After identifying the area of the body that needs adjustment, our chiropractors will apply pressure to the vertebrae or joint that needs adjustment. Depending on the area of the body the chiropractors are treating, sometimes you’ll hear a release of gas from the joint or vertebrae called joint cavitation. What is joint cavitation? Basically it’s the release of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide releasing from the joint. If the vertebrae or joint is being particularly stubborn, we will utilize massage therapy to relax it even further to allow for movement. This is why when you visit us here at Care Medical Centers, we generally start your chiropractic visit with a massage to achieve maximum results.
What are the side effects of the chiropractic adjustment?
Sometimes after you have received a chiropractic adjustment from our chiropractors, you will feel aching or soreness in the joint or vertebrae that was adjusted. You will generally notice these side effects within the first few hours after adjustment. These aches and pains can be cured by increasing blood flow to the adjusted area with an ice pack.
