Back Pain — 3 Habits to Avoid
Back pain is very common. In most cases, these are related to our bad habits and lifestyle. There are healthy choices that you can adopt to improve your back pain or avoid it completely. Similarly, there are habits you should avoid if you have back pain:
Bad posture: Slumping, hunching over — all these indicate bad posture. Your back should be straight, but not rigid. Any position that puts pressure on the spine is considered bad. The constant pressure increases the strain and tension in the spinal cord, leading to pain over a period of time.
Lift heavy objects: When we lift a heavy object, the weight is mostly carried by the back. The pressure again falls mostly on the lower backbone. This can even cause a slipped disc, a lifelong condition that leaves you increasingly susceptible to pain. So, avoid lifting heavy objects as much as possible.
Bending over, sudden jerking or twisting: These are some common actions that can put a strain on the back, increasing chances of a back injury. We bend over often to pick up objects from the floor or when lifting something. The correct way to do so is by bending your knees rather than your back! Similarly, sudden jerking or twisting motion using the back can also put a strain on your back.
